ePortfolios
Principal Investigator: Lori L. Hager, Ph.D.
As of 2010-11, Dr. Lori Hager is finishing up the third and final year of the University of Oregon's ePortfolio project participation in the Inter/National Coalition of Electronic Portfolio Research (INCEPR). INCEPR is a coalition of researchers and practitioners that convene to study the impact of ePortfolios on student learning and educational outcomes.
As part of an interdisciplinary initiative with the Architecture program and the Honors Program in the Lindquist College of Business, Dr. Hager has been collaborating with colleagues on research that examines factors of engagement and outcomes in ePortfolio learning. The AAD ePortfolio hub has provided a mechanism to support and catalyze innovation in approaches to learning and teaching, and is a good model for implementation strategies. Both the research and the development of the AAD Commons have provided a solid framework for future growth.
Throughout the year, Dr. Hager's involvement in ePortfolios with other UO units, faculty members, and Arts and Administration Program graduate students led to multiple conference presentations, panel discussions, a webinar, advisory meetings, and papers under review for publication. Of particular emphasis were discussions focused on ways in which faculty are engaging with open source tools for instructional purposes, and ways in which 21-century learning challenges in higher education might be addressed by the use of ePortfolios.
